5 Amazing Recipes to Grill in Foil
We know how much our friends enjoy cooking out and that’s why when we came across this great article titled 50 Things to Grill in Foil published on The Food Network blog, we decided we just had to share a few with you. Grilling in foil is not only creative and fun, but it’s easy and there’s almost no cleanup when you’re done, so you’re able to get right back to other fun activities at your campsite without spending time cleaning dirty dishes. If you haven’t grilled in a foil pack before, you’ll want to know how to create a foil packet. You’ll want to use heavy duty foil. Lay it out flat and put your ingredients in the middle. You may need to use non stick foil, depending on the recipe. Once you have all your goodies in the middle of you foil, bring the shorter sides in and fold them twice. Next, fold the longer sides up to seal the packet, leaving room for steam. Once your packet is folded you’re ready to grill. You’ll just follow the directions on your recipe.
Now, who’s ready to get grillin’?
First up are the Jerk Chicken Wings.
Put 6 split chicken wings, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and 3 tablespoons jerk seasoning on your sheet of foil. Form your packet. Grill over high heat for 25 minutes. Turn the packet over once. When your done grilling, top the food with cilantro and serve with lime wedges. This recipe is a hit with the men folk and so simple to make.
Next we have Quesadillas. Sprinkle shredded pepper jack cheese on one half of a flour tortilla; top with chopped rotisserie chicken and cilantro and fold your packet in half to close. Repeat to make more; seal in individual foil packets. You’ll grill this recipe over medium heat for 5 minutes, turning once. The kids always love quesadillas!
Coming in third is Garlic Shrimp.
For this one you will mix 1/2 stick softened butter, 1 cup chopped parsley, 2 chopped garlic cloves, and salt and pepper. Toss with the juice of 1 lemon. Add 1 pound unpeeled large shrimp and a big pinch of red pepper flakes. Divide between 2 foil packets. Grill over high heat for 8 minutes. A favorite among seafood lovers.
Number four is great for munching while sitting around the campfire telling ghost stories or just revisiting past memories. It’s none other than Popcorn!
Combine 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and 1/4 cup popcorn kernels in a disposable pie pan. Seal the pan in foil, making a dome shape on top. (Use 2 sheets of foil, if needed, to cover.) Grill over high heat, shaking, until the popping stops, about 8 minutes. Season with salt. Yum!
Our fifth choice is a dessert. You didn’t think we’d give you a sampling of 50 things to grill in foil without listing a dessert for you, did you? Apple Dumplings are the tasty treat we’re talking about. Mix 1/2 stick softened butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon apple pie spice; stuff into 4 cored apples. Wrap each apple in 1/2 disk refrigerated pie dough; seal in individual nonstick foil packets. Grill over medium heat, turning a few times, 30 minutes. Now doesn’t that sound ahhhh-mazing?!
