If you’ve been camping or RV’ing for long and have traveled around the mid-west, or eastern half of the country, chances are you have stayed at or at least seen one of the dozens of Jellystone Park Campgrounds. They have a large presence in the East and even have a few locations in Canada. With just one location in Cobb, California, and one location in Missoula, Montana, they are not as prevalant or quite as well known in the NW. It was just announced that the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds has awarded Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest in Harrisville, Pennsylvania the coveted “Campground of the year” award for the second time in four years. Jellystone Parks are a franchise network of campgrounds focused on providing great family vacations. Whether you are an RV enthusiast, enjoy the comfort of a cabin, or prefer tent camping, Jellystone Park’s first-rate accommodations, amenities and activities provide the setting for a fun family vacation that’s also easy on the wallet. Jellystone campgrounds offer such amenities as swimming, mini golf, wagon rides, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds and of course appearances from Yogi Bear™ and friends… when you’re there, family fun is the main attraction! Jellystone hasn’t forgotten the adults either. They offer Bingo, karaoke and sometimes even some live bands. Highlights of the Jellystone Park year include themed weekends: Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Mardi Gras, Christmas in July, Yogi Bear’s Birthday and Halloween. According to an article on rvnews.com, The award for Kozy Rest was received by Denny Quigley and his son, Gary. They received the award during a national awards ceremony held at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. The award was issued “in recognition of their park’s exceptionally high levels of customer service; employee training, operational excellence; national directory ratings; and community service. They also received the award in 2011. The Quigleys were also recognized at the Yogi Bear Symposium in Cincinnati in November with eight awards, the highest being “Facility of the Year.” One of the newer additions to the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park chain, Kozy Rest is a popular camping destination with organized family activities, weekend entertainment as well as 10 cabins and 2 yurt rentals. Frequent guests and employees of the park said they were not surprised to hear the park received national recognition. “It’s more than exceptional,” said Matt Neff of Butler, Penn. “They do such a great job of catering to families. I have a four-year-old and we go there every weekend during the summer.” Neff added that the Quigleys solicit guest input on ideas for park improvements, and they follow through by consistently reinvesting in the park to provide the kinds of amenities and facilities guests want”.
