RV Country Taco Pie

Cheesy, tasty, tacos! Mmmm Mmmm! And you thought you had to give up this family favorite when you went on your RV trip. Guess again RV adventurers! You can now have your taco, and eat it too. The best thing is that even though we’re technically calling this a recipe, you can actually add any ingredients you want.

However, there is one item you will most definitely need to seal the deal. A pie iron. Yep. We’ve all used them for everything from pudgy pies to Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches, and now my friends, you can use it to serve up some tasty tacos.

Here are the basic ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (browned, drained, and seasoned with taco package)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Chunky Salsa
  • Flour tortilla shells

Now to prepare!

Spray the pie iron with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Line one side of the pie iron with a flour tortilla shell. Top with meat, cheese, and salsa. You may now add any of your favorite taco ingredients. Top with another flour tortilla shell. Shut and secure the pie iron and tear off any tortilla shell sticking out of the pie iron. Cook slowly over hot coals or on a campfire tripod; turn occasionally and cook until hot.

And there you have it. One of your favorites cooked right out in the great outdoors!  We sure hope you enjoy this tasty dinner and if you try it, be sure to let us know how it turns out! You can leave us a message on our Facebook wall or send us an email.

Happy RV’ing!
